How the System Works
SpamCatcher
The engineers at ISOMEDIA created SpamCatcher to scan all inbound Email for likeliness of spam. This is done by using a tagging process based on a heuristic system that runs various tests. The test returns a numeric value, or score. The higher the score, the more likely it is spam. The score each message receives is placed in the header of the message, which is typically hidden in most Email applications. Because a tag is placed on each message, any server or email program can filter the messages based on rules created by your score preferences. This allows us to tag email messages for domains that we host as well other domains.
The ISOMEDIA SpamCatcher allows you to set the sensitivity of filtration. To customize the sensitivity, select the wrench icon on the menu bar after login. Then, modify the "Spam-o-meter Threshold Level" option to suit your needs. This sets the sensitivity on all tagged messages. The lower the score, the more aggressive SpamCatcher will be. The more aggressive, the more Emails will be caught. In general, a score level of 5 = Aggressive, 10 = Medium, and 25 = Tolerant.
The server then uses your settings while reading your incoming messages. If a message has been tagged with a number equal to or greater than your setting, it will be delivered to your SpamCatcher box leaving your regular inbox clear of suspected spam. Messages in the SpamCatcher box can be viewed by logging into the SpamCatcher. The SpamCatcher system automatically deletes the Emails after 30 days.
VirusCatcher
The engineers at ISOMEDIA built a separate system that will scan all inbound Email for viruses. If the message has a virus, the VirusCatcher deletes the virus and sends a notice to the sender and recipient of the message alerting both parties that the message was infected.
