Fiction
For a while I used to write short stories for fun. It was enjoyable for me to create characters and watch as they came to life, facing imaginary events and situations. Some of these stories I review with pride and others I frown upon. Overall, however, I think they are a reasonable mix, each amusing in their own way.
Feel free to read any of the written works below. However, please respect my rights as being an owner of intellectual property and treat my fiction accordingly. If there are any questions please email the author, Mark Brady.
- The Dog and the Dove -- I wrote this one when I was a freshman in high school. It still makes me smile when I read it. Definitely not award-winning...but cute all the same.
- The Wharf -- A short, eventful, fishing story about a boy during the summer. It reflects some of my past memories of fishing and the interesting people I met at the waterfront.
- Watch Your Step -- Nobody seems to like this story but me! Oh well, I have to admit that it's different...perhaps some of you will enjoy it despite past reactions.
- Robin in the Hood -- I tried to imagine what a sort of modern-day Robin Hood would act like. The antihero of my story is designed to be a good character, underneath all his problems.
- In the Middle of the Madness -- Read this if you are in the mood for something really weird! I turned it in for a homework assignment back in high school. My English teacher said it wasn't bad, if you can overlook all the science-fiction lingo.
- Displacement -- This is an experience that (thankfully) I have not had to deal with as of yet. But I can guess how terrifying it must be to encounter tragedy.
- Within the Forest -- This is the only real fantasy story I've written. Out of all of my stories, I feel the greatest pride in this one.
