Sometimes it takes a lot of patience just to find well-designed, exciting places to visit on the Internet. It seems as if there are about ten bad sites for every good one. With the hopes of saving readers some time, I have compiled a list of fantastic web sites that each deserve a glance for their originality, humor and general enlightenment.
- MTV -- A classic site! It may take a while to load if you're still on a 56K line, but MTV online offers some good music resources and news.
- D. Peter's Page -- Peter is an old friend of mine from High School -- a very cool guy and professional web developer. His page has a lot of neat stuff, including a dynamic HTML game that he made (titled "Mission to Mir"), music and links.
- Applet Arcade -- If you like video games, then this is the place for you. It has Java playable versions of a whole bunch of new and classic games, such as "Pong" and "Asteroids."
- Magic: The Gathering -- This page has tons of information concering "Magic," a complex, strategic, card game. The cards are fun to collect and along with gameplay can become a dangerously addictive source of fun.
- Tv Guide -- Okay, so you need to know what time the ball game is on. No problem. It's not necessary to go all the way to the store and pay three bucks for the information or to even dig around in the newspaper. Catch it all here, online and for free.
- The NASA Homepage -- This page reflects America's space exploration program, otherwise known as NASA. It has some good pictures, documentation about various missions and articles concerning space flight.
- The Ghost Watcher -- Is anyone else out there addicted to the wonders of supernatural phenomenon? The lady who runs The Ghost Watcher certainly appears to be. She has set up numerous cameras in "strategic" locations around her house and hooked them up to the internet in hopes of catching ghosts. Visitors are encouraged to report unusual activity. Definitely a weird, but cool, place to see.
- Bert is Evil! -- If you've ever been a fan (or critic) of Sesame Street then this page should give you a good chuckle. We hear a lot about Elmo, Grover and Big Bird...but does anyone really know much about Bert? This site investigates this question and discovers the horrible truth.
- Headhunter -- The largest online job service for those who are looking to find a good occupation in their area. Headhunter matches online resumes to it's database of available jobs. This is a free service and a great resource.
- BotSpot -- This is the place to be if you're interested in artificial intelligence. Inside BotSpot, one may find links to chatter bots, net bots, software bots, knowledge bots and a whole slew of others that attempt to make life easier. Realistic artificial intelligence is still a long ways away, but it can be entertaining to monitor the progress.
- Amazon.com -- Do you like to read? Amazon.com is one of the Internet's largest online bookstores, offering millions of titles, secure purchasing options and quick delivery. It also allows you to search for your favorite titles, authors and/or subjects.
- Liam and Jermz -- Jeremy is a very good friend of mine. He has a wonderful sense of humor and loves God a lot. This page documents some of his adventures. WTO, birthdays, furbies and other fun stuff can all be found here.
