Science Fiction

It can be argued that Science Fiction is the reason we have the level of technology we do. Authors come up with neat creative ideas about what the future will be like and others, including scientists, read it, and think about it, and sometimes make it happen! I wonder if we ever would have even considered manned space flight if it were not for Jules Verne!

Well, below you will find pages dedicated to some of the better (In my humble opinion) shows out there. So grab some popcorn and your engineering notepad and get ready for what could very well be a taste of the future!

Red Dwarf is my second favorite show next to MST 3K, I was fortunate enough to watch the episodes I've seen in chronological order so I was pleasantly surprised each time with how much better any given episode was to the previous one. I tell you, after each episode I was kind of sad because I couldn't imagine any of the remaining episodes to be as creative or funny, but I was wrong every time!

X-Files used to be one of my favorite shows. When they started making humorous episodes I thought it was a neat change of pace... but... STOP it already! I used to watch because I like to be scared, not for comic relief. Come on, Chris Carter, scare me!

Star Trek: TNG. Whoa! How did this show ever survive those first two seasons? Man did those ever stink! There were a couple of neat ones and Tasha Yar was kind of neat but the whole 'Wesley situation' and Dr. Polaski just annoyed the heck out of me. Even so I watched it religiously since it's premier. I think it was the premis that kept me watching the first two seasons. Well, check these pages out for some of my favorite eps!

Star Trek: Voyager has great potential as a show but there are so many things about it that bother me. Many people have just written it off for dead because they think it's so lame. I think it has a great chance, the first two seasons, as bad as they were, are head and shoulders above the crappy first two seasons of TNG.

Star Trek: DS9 is an odd concept. People sitting around in a space station waiting for adventure to come to them. I don't care for this show at all, I've seen a few episodes and it's mostly about cultural and religious issues of some fictional species. Check this page out for some of the more ridiculous things I've seen/heard on there. Oh, and BTW, DS9 is much more lame than Voyager. Please don't boil me!!

Star Trek: The Movies. I'm sure most would agree with me on which is their favorite movie. That would be "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" it was pretty good. Well, check out this page for info on the upcoming film, and a brief review of the existing ones.

Xena: Warrior Princess has got to be the silliest show I've ever seen! It can be impressive at times and then there's my unspeakable fantasy about Xena and her traveling companion, but aside from that this show is Bot fodder. I like to watch it sometimes just to remind myself how bad acting and screenwriting can be. Kudos to the cinematographer though, the art direction and cinematography are top notch! Clean as a whistle and stronger than dirt! And I LOVE Xena's eyes!

Babylon 5 lost me pretty quick. Maybe my expectations were too high, I recorded the premier and was kind of resentful that they'd leave me hanging on so many things just to get me to watch the series. Oh well, check this page out if you care what I think about it.

Dark Skies sounds interesting! I have not had a chance to see it but I heard from a friend that it takes Alien Abduction cases and ties them all in to a story! That sounds like a neat show! Oh well, I'll have to catch it one of these days. Till then no link.. sorry. :(

Space: Above and beyond was a visually stunning show! The sound and cinematography was better than the movie "Aliens"! Better than "The Abyss" even! However, I didn't like the way they did typical dramatic bullcrap. I don't know exactly what it was about it but I felt like I was being fed a load of "Demographic oriented" crap. I didn't feel I was watching a show I felt I was watching someone's idea of what the market was hungry for. It may have been true but if those execs would just take a chance and put on a GOOD show instead of one their market research tells them will do well... Is this show even on anymore?

UPN had a Star Trek wannabe show for a while, didn't they? I remember seeing one episode, I think it was the premier episode, then there was nothing. How does any network expect any show to survive on the ratings of the premier? Oh well, TV execs are just stupid I guess. Their employee's cubicles are probably wallpapered with Dilbert strips. Say! Dilbert wallpaper!! That's a great idea, what do you think, Scott Adams?

My Favorite Movies deserve their own page...
