What is Lobby REALLY like?

"We're no threat, people. We're not dirty, we're not mean
We love everybody, but we do as we please
When the weather is fine we go fishing or go swimming in the sea
We're always happy. Life's for living, yeah, that's our philosophy."
"In the summertime" by Mungo Jerry

I spent many years trying to find myself, it turns out I was between the cushions of my mother's couch. Go figure.

Seriously though, I have a pretty unique personality. I'm kind of spastic in a nervous sort of way.. kind of like Crow on MST 3K, but when I'm fully composed (Which unfortunately is not often) I'm a pretty reasonable person even kind of witty. I'd have to be very comfortable around you though. Otherwise I'm one big bundle of neurosis.

I'm honest to a fault sometimes... I've caught myself on the verge of saying something potentially insulting but perfectly true to people sometimes. I try to make an effort to filter everything I say better. It doesn't always work though so I apologize in advance if I insult you from lack of tact.. ever.

I really love life, I sometimes wish I could hug the universe because I love it so! So much to learn so many great people to meet! Maybe it's just misplaced oxytocin but I certainly enjoy my life!

The types of people I typically gravitate towards for friends tend to be individuals in that they have well developed personalities of their own and they don't conform to society's expectations to the letter as many people do. That is not to say that I like to hang around non-conformists, non-conformity can be conformity if you catch the way I'm drifting. I guess I can't really explain it very well, but when I was going to high school at L.A.C.E.S. most of the people there were individuals. At the time I did not realize the significance of this and just thought of the difference between there and a normal school as directly relating to the fact that everyone there was of above average intelligence. I see now that it had mostly to do with the fact that these people had their own individual well developed personality, they were almost all nice, polite people. In thinking back to my years there I realize a collection of such intelligent, nice people is a treasure beyond comparison. Most people are lucky if they encounter one such person and I was literally surrounded by them.

Fortunately one of the places I work at is another pocket of nice, intelligent people! Mostly programmers and artists but they all seem to have well developed personalities all their own, the ones I've talked to anyway. It's all I can do to keep from running up to each one everyday and hugging them. Well the women anyway...

I keep away from any and all mind altering drugs, including the legal ones Nicotine, Caffeine and Alcohol. I have no desire to inhale the smoke from a burning weed, I get even more nervous than I normally am with Caffeine and I certainly don't want to kill braincells with alcohol.

Now you probably have an image of someone who's almost always happy and enjoys life to the fullest. Well if you think my baseline happiness level reading is strangely high, you should see me when I get excited about something, typically something along the lines of genetics, technology or science in general.. I've been known to get hysterically happy over technological innovations, usually because I can imagine some pretty neat implementations of the technology and can hardly wait to see it happen. The last time such a thing happened was with the news of human cloning... that made me so incredibly happy because of what I can see happening with it that I actually lost it when people suggested banning it. I wrote Bill Clinton a letter about it, I felt so strongly!

So that's who I am... a neurotic, happy-go-lucky technophile (or 2nd Level Technology Mage as I've started calling myself) who gets more enjoyment out of everyday life than should be legally possible.

Please don't boil me!!
