Re: New Endorsements and Contributions to Candidates

____________________________________________________________________________________________

The PAC State Board of Trustees met by conference call this morning to finalize any new endorsements and to make contributions to candidates. PAC County Boards of Trustees had the opportunity to make new recommendations for endorsement in races where an endorsed candidate lost in the primary or where the PAC was neutral in the primary.

Farm Bureau PAC endorsed 92 candidates in the primary elections. Only 3 of our endorsed candidates lost their bids for election in close races. We had first thought 4 our Farm Bureau’s endorsed candidates had lost in the primary, but Luke Esser (District 48, Position 1) appears to have squeaked out a win by less than 150 votes. Do you believe me now when I say "Every Vote Counts!"

Farm Bureau PAC endorsed five new candidates to the Washington State House of Representatives. They are:

District 5, Position 2 Cheryl Pflug (R) District 39, Position 1 Ken Estes (R)

District 10, Position 2 Kelly Barlean (R) District 44, Position 1 Dave Schmidt (R)

District 31, Position 1 Dan Roach (R)

Farm Bureau PAC endorsed one new candidate to the Washington State Senate. He is:

District 42 Ward Nelson (R)

Farm Bureau PAC also endorsed two candidates to the United States House of Representatives. They are:

District 1 Rick White (R) District 3 Don Benton (R)

In addition to making endorsements, the PAC State Board of Trustees contributed $6,875 to the campaigns of 15 candidates to the Washington State Legislature. The Trustees took a rifle-shot approach, aiming PAC money to candidates in hotly contested races where our help could make a difference. Another $1,000 was donated to the Referendum 49 – Transportation Funding campaign.

$6,000 was contributed to federal candidates. Rick White (R) received $3,000, Don Benton (R) received $2,000, and Jack Metcalf (R) received $1,000. These candidates are targeted by the national Democratic Party, organized labor, and environmentalists for defeat. These folks need our help.

Attached is a full list of endorsements and contributions from the PAC.
