I'm Here! Continued...

"Brain Hikes..."These are situations when, I'll try to explain it accurately, when your mind goes...well, almost "dead" and your body remains acutely awake, eyes fully opened, alert, but essentially, "without a brain..."

These occur with me usually 2-3 times a day, lasting from 15 minutes to more than an hour... One could call it a, "processor failure..." You see, it is true that a Pentium processor can handle much more than an old XT Trading a Pentium in for an XT is not a desirable thing but it seems to me that some TBIers have done something akin to that. RAM has also [effectively] been decreased from say 64mb to 640K

I guess that TBIers have essentially "traded in their Pentium for an old 8mhz XT [not even a 10 mhz for heavens sake...]

The result is that calculations or "cognitions" as I would think of them... are either dramatically slowed down at times, or are simply beyond the capacity of a TBIer...

This past week starting on Thursday, Brain HikesStarted in the morning and continued to today at a very increased incidence intensity, and duration.

From an average of 3 Brain Hikes per day I shifted to something like 7 or 8 and with that, each "Hike" increased in severity and duration. There were times over the past 6 days when I could do nothing but either pull my truck over to the side of the road, or stop what I was doing inside my RV, close the door, and quiety sob...

Interspersed with the "full blown brain hikes" were countless, "near brain hikes..."

When I notice a "near brain hike" comming on, I try to back off from what I am doing-if driving and I have a choice of doing more than one errand-I try to immediately cut it down to only ONE and then get home if possible before it turns "full blown..." Driving is a significant challenge for me-trips lasting 45 minutes or better usually mean that I must find a place to stop durring the trip.

Repetition... Repetition is one work around I have found useful-I made three trips to the hardware store yesterday, trying to repeat the route each time. A couple more times, and I will be able to get there with little or no problem...

Another step will be to find a grocery store, and make the trip 5 or 6 times.
