You see I went into the kayak shop that is the store front for Northwest Kayaks looking for "Deep Trouble" and didn't find a copy.
I did however find a number of beautiful boats. I sat in many of them. One problem I found was that though I am a lightweight guy [at the time about 135lbs] I am 6 feet tall and have feet sized to match-maybe even a little bigger [can you say "size 12"?] and so I needed a boat with at least 13 inches for my feet [when you take into account either sandals or more generally wet-socks]. I finally narrowed down the choice to one boat. That boat of course is the
Northwest Kayaks Pursuit.
with a 22 inch beam and length of 17 1/2 feet, it certainly qualifies as a Sea Kayak. Made from fiberglass it weighs about as much as my much smaller canoe-around 55lbs. It has two very water-tite hatches [a days training yielded about one tablespoon of water in each compartment-no more] and a Feathercraft rudder system.
After my "trials" with my skirt not comming off as easily as in my Necky, a class with George, and some independent paddling I saw some changes that needed to be considered.
