Steelhead Anglers
Steelhead Anglers is a purveyor of the finest Steelhead
and Salmon Flies in the business as well as the
materials which are hard to find and necessary to tie them.
Spey Flies Steelhead Anglers produces Spey flies from the angling legacy of the Pacific Northwest. We feature patterns from masters such as Syd Glasso, Dave McNeese and Walt Johnson. We also produce patterns developed by Jack Cook based on popular and effective Pacific Northwest Steelhead Patterns and honed on the River of Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia. We also have the 16 patterns from Autumns on the Spey. These are all very beautiful patterns and very effective fishing tools. Most are tied on Alec Jackson Spey or Partridge hooks for maximum hooking and holding power. These flies are proudly tied in America.
Steelhead Dries Steelhead Anglers produces Steelhead Dries from proven patterns of Bill McMillan, David Lambroughton, and Harry Lemire as well as the patterns of Jack Cook. These patterns have been honed in the rivers of the Skeena System in Northern BC and they produce. In addition they are tied on Alec Jackson Spey Hooks so the hook and hold on. These flies are also well tied and extremely durable and are proudly tied in America.
Waddington Prawns, Waddington Squids, Intruders, and Prawn Patterns These patterns are 6-7" long and are dynamite in situations where visibility is poor and a bold profile is needed. They are engineered to be easy to cast even though they are huge and feature trailing hooks made by Owner, the sharpest in the business. These flies are tied from materials carefully chosen to create the illusion of movement and profile without adding bulk and weight. They weight from .5-1.5 grams and are very effective fishing tools. In addition I tie a 3" version of these patterns called a Skykomish Prawn and some beeautiful Orange or Black GP's. Also the Super Shrimp, Bob Aid Marabou Series, and the Jack Practitioner. These flies are also well tied and extremely durable and are proudly tied in America.
Shrimp Patterns from the legacy of Ireland, Wales, and Scotland These patterns are documeented in the rich angling history of Salmon fishing n the British. The patterns are beautiful and also very effective of Pacific Northwest Steelhead. These flies are also well tied and extremely durable and are proudly tied in America.
Steelhead Hairwings Patterns from the rich legacy of Pacific Northwest Steelhead Fly Fishing. Green Butt Skunk, Purple Peril and Spades abound. All tied on AJ Spey Hooks or AJ Steelhead Irons if you want a bit more weight. Also some newer and very effective patterns like Willy Gunn, Jack Spratley and a sampling of Atlantic Salmon Hairwings like the Cosseboom Special and Ross Special. These AS patterns are deadly low water flies on Steelhead. These flies are also well tied and extremely durable and are proudly tied in America.
Spey Hackle This stuff may look like Schlappen but that is where the similarity ends. First the majority of these feathers have hardly and stem diameter. This means you can tie them in from the fat end like Spey flies were originally tied. In addition when you warp the hackle the fibers do not web together, they stand on their own, separate and individual and make a great lookinf fly in the water. Available in over 15 excellent colors. Available in sized bags of 5/0(limited availability), 3/0, 1.5, 3, and 5 and mixed bags which have 4 of 3/0 and 7 each of 1.5, 3, and 5. These are an excellent value at under $4 retail andd will make your tying a pleasure.
Ringneck Pheasant Rump These beauties are natural or dyed Coral, Shrimp Orange, Purple, Summer Duck, Claret, or Hot Pink. Bags contain 25 feathers from size 1.5 to 5. Ringneck has an amazing natural sheen to it unlike any other bird. This is why Walt Johnson was so involved in placing it on so many of his patterns. Gives you a very heron like look for way less money.
Silver Pheasant Rump These beauties are natural or dyed Coral, Shrimp Orange, Highlander, Orange, Purple, or Hot Pink. Bagged in sizes from 3/0-5 the beautiful barring on these white feathers makes a hackle which looks a lot like white heron which has the subtle black markings on the tips. These have to be seen to be believed.
Rhea Spey Hackle Amazing Spey hackle off 4-7" in length. Like ostrich Herl but with more body in the water. Must be seen to be believed. Available in over 15 colors.

Waddington Shanks We are a huge importer of Waddington Shanks in sizes 55mm, 45mm, 35mm, 25mm, 20mm and 15mm. If you have not tied on Waddington Shanks then you are missing some real fun in your tying and fishing. Available in bags of 10, 25, and 100.
Owner Hooks To go with the Waddingtons I use Owner SSW Cutting Point Bait Hooks. After being frustrated for years with bait hooks from other manufacturers I was given a package of these while on a long range trib for big albacore on light tackle. These hooks can land a whale and the black chrome finish is ready for business. I also use these for tying saltwater patterns. Available in bags of 10, 25, and 100.
Prawn Tying Supplies To make it possible to get the lifelike appearance on the prawn pattern I offer shellback material and beaded prawn eyes.
Glimmer Body This is a product which is like plactix Spey Hackle with 1" fiber and little fiber optic sparke on the ends of the strands. I found this in italy and if you use it your flies will never be the same. Available in 20 colors
Silk-Berlin Wool This is beautiful Spanish Berlin Wool which has been twisted with 50% silk to give it strength and a touch of natural silk sheen. The is stranded in threes which can used in all 3 or separated and twisted with other colors. Dynamite for Steelhead patterns and a must for all of the antique patterns like Autumns on the Spey Available in over 20 colors and only $1.95 retail for over 7 yards.
Giorgio Benecchi Products From Italy I import GB size 12/0 tying thread. The thread comes in a myraid of colors and is as strong as any 6/0 thread on the market. If you want you flies to look better with less bulk this is a way to get there fast. I also bring in a line of GB Iridescent thread which makes for some very interting looking flies.
Yuri Shumakov Tubes From Sweden I import the most revolutionary tube bodies ever created. Unlike the heavy tubes which are hard to fish on Northwest rivers these tubes are lightweight and balanced so the patterns ride level in the water. Developed on the rivers of Kola and in BC these beauties are perfect for our Northwest Steelhead rivers. Available in different shapes and weights. Click on the pictures below for larger images. Silicone connection tubing and tube hooks also available.

Veniard's 'Slipstream' TubesPre cut tubes with plastic lining to prevent abrasion. Double walled plastic, aluminum, or copper. These are the best straight production tubes I have ever used. You can see in the bigger photo that the plastic tube has the plastic liner running to within about 1/4" of the rear end of the tube. This allows the hook to be inserted directly into the rear of the tube body instead of using connector tubing. Available in double walled plastic, aluminum, and copper. Silicone connection tubing and tube hooks also available.
