Thatramorians & Avensorans of Note

Most of the characters here are Thatramorian. Those who are not are included here because they have made Avensora their home, and adopted the Thatramorian people as their own. Most of these characters are NPCs, with the exception of Dayana, and Dawn. When those two particular characters were actually played, many of the numbers given for stats were lower, of course, and some of the information listed in their descriptions would not have occurred yet. While I still ask that you not reproduce these characters anywhere, you are certainly welcome to borrow and/or modify any of these folks for use in your own game if you so choose. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to e-mail me at the address listed on the main page.

Dayana Dayana Telaris
Height: 1.75 meters
Status: Jedi, Thatramorian Ruler
Classification: Thatramorian
Affiliation: The Thatramorian people, family & friends
Weapon of Choice: Lightsaber &/or Lightstaff
History: Dayana is currently the ruler of Avensora, the current home planet for the Thatramorian race. While Thatramoria itself is being slowly reclaimed and made livable, this is a long-term project that will span easily a hundred years. In the meantime, there's plenty of room on Avensora and its three moons.

Dayana never asked to rule anyone. Once she found out her father was alive, her one goal in life was to find him and bring him back to the light side of the Force. Finding that her people were still alive was a welcome shock, but she certainly didn't expect to do more than help to free them. However, when those she had rescued so far got a close look at the family crest she wore about her neck, they immediately hailed her as kiassa, princess and ruler. Some research once they found a way off of the slave planet explained the reaction. The surviving Thatramorians had been enslaved around a thousand years ago, shortly before the Golden Era on Thatramoria, and at that time in Thatramorian history Dayana's family had been one of the very strongest, and often served as moderators, bringing an end to many conflicts, whether it was through negotiation or by force. The Thatramorian people, already grateful for the rescue that Dayana led, combined this with the legends and stories that had survived a thousand years of slavery, and appointed her their ruler. She told them the truth, grateful that she was not the destined ruler after all - and it backfired. No one else, she was told, was better qualified, had proved that they had the Thatramorians' best interests at heart. They insisted, and when she looked around, she was forced to admit that they were right.

Dayana still intends to turn the rule of Thatramoria over to a council once the people are ready, but whether this will become possible or not is uncertain. There is so much to accomplish, and so many wounds to be healed, that for the forseeable future Thatramoria will better prosper under the guidance of one ruler rather than a committee. Because she spent a couple of years studying governance under her father while he ruled his Imperium, and because by her nature she is virtually incorruptible, Dayana makes an excellent ruler. Even if she does wish it were otherwise.

Far too serious, Dayana does have a lighter side. Trained by Jared Tailslasher once she sought a teacher, she met Rene Jones, and those two have worked long and hard to convince her that smiling is a healthy thing. Under Ren's influence, Dayana has developed a passion for an ancient type of vehicle: the Harley Davidson Hawg. She is a talented dancer, and enjoys painting as well. As if maintaining her own skills in the Force while ruling a planet is not enough, she is also responsible for the training of young Rhyssa Jones, who has the potential to become a strong Jedi Knight. Her friends conspire together to keep the load from becoming too much. She is aided in many things not only by Ren, but by Dawn, a former street rat with whom she formed an instant friendship when the urchin came to her aid during an attack while on Residia. Dayana and Dawn accept each other for who they are, rather than what they do. Dawn provides another lighter side to Dayana's life - and watches Dayana's back.

Desslok Desslok Telaris
Height: 1.98 m
Status: Jedi, Thatramorian Warleader
Classification: Thatramorian
Affiliation: His family, Avensora
Weapon of Choice: Lightsaber
History: The son of one of the older and more powerful families on Thatramoria, Desslok followed in the footsteps of many in his family and became a Jedi. He was forced to flee the planet when the government was temporarily toppled, and narrowly escaped with the help of a Zeltron freighter captain. He and the captain, Dayana, became involved, and fell in love. Though it is extremely difficult for Thatramorians to breed with any other species, she became pregnant. Due to complications in the pregnancy and birth, Dayana died very shortly after giving birth to a daughter. Desslok named the infant after her mother, and fled to the backwater planet of Aduba to raise his child away from the rising clutches of the Empire.

The next ten years passed smoothly, until an Imperial Purge team arrived. Desslok returned from a supply trip to find his home in ruins, his daughter gone. He tracked the team down and killed them, turning to the dark side of the Force. He spent the next few years moving around, occasionally working as a mercenary. The Empire finally caught up with him shortly after he found and killed the old friend who had betrayed he and his daughter, and Desslok was in the service of the Emperor.

When the Empire finally fell, Desslok seized the opportunity and carved out a small area for himself, including Residia and the Astoria sector. Somewhat content with the chance to rule and bring order himself, his plans were thrown awry when Dayana reappeared, trying to convert her father back to the light side of the Force. She might or might not have succeeded, but when a scheme of Moradin Thrall's made her disappear, and made that disappearance look like death at the New Republic's hands, Desslok went insane. He unleashed the power of an experimental weapon on the fringes of the New Republic, destroying two planets before he could be stopped. Rene Jones found and rescued Dayana, and together they found and rescued Desslok - from the Republic, and from himself.

This should have been a happy ending, and was . . . until Grand Admiral Thrawn showed up. He convinced Desslok to work with him in exchange for a shot at the man who had kidnapped his daughter and set him up to destroy millions of people. Desslok leapt at the chance. The next few years were dark, as Dayana finally gave up on her father. She now had far more to worry about: rebuilding Thatramoria as its appointed ruler. Thrawn, however, was well aware that she was a threat to his control over Desslok, and made his first mistake: he ordered her dealt with, and her people destroyed if necessary. Enraged, though not out of control, Dayana left her planet to remove the target - and found Wayland. With proof that Thrawn had betrayed Thatramoria, and was planning to set her father up to be killed by the Republic, she got to him just in time, and delivered her news. Finally unable to avoid the error of his ways, Desslok turned back to the Light.

Desslok now serves Dayana and Avensora as a warleader. When the Kryd threat has been eliminated and all of the Thatramorians freed from slavery, he will retire and focus on raising his family. He is currently married to Rhyssa Ke'Sahndhran, and has twin children. He is one of the few Thatramorians alive today who was raised on the home planet, and trained in the traditional Thatramorian ways of the Force, so he will almost certainly pass on those traditions when the current war is over.

Using Desslok as a villain: Desslok has more control than many dark side Jedi. He is usually very polished and civil, even to his enemies. He has a definite sense of style. He has a sense of honor as well, and if you meet him, it will be face to face - but bear in mind that he will have done everything possible to make that meeting in his favor. He is a superb strategist, though not as experienced with ground troops as he is with naval ships. He is quite strong in the Force - think traditional Jedi.

Using Desslok as a light side NPC: Most of the same things hold true. Dayana has another officer who serves as First Admiral of the Navy, but with her father's sheer experience, he is the one who will lead the fleet (once it is together) against the Kryd. He will never rule Avensora, nor work with the Republic, as they cannot forgive him for the people he has killed. He is incredibly dedicated to his family, and has a special relationship with Dayana. He's something of a traditionalist.

Tranith
Height: 1.64 meters
Status: Desslok's aide, and general troubleshooter
Classification: Thatramorian
Affiliation: Primarily to Desslok, then the Telaris family
Weapon of Choice: A few well placed words
History: Tranith was raised on Thatramoria with Desslok, chosen at an early age to serve Desslok as his dai'kesan - a position best described as aide, companion, right hand man, and eternal friend. A lifelong commitment, by the time Desslok and Tranith reached adulthood, Tranith was often able to anticipate Desslok's directions before Desslok had given them. When the insurrection broke out on Thatramoria, Tranith managed to get Desslok off the planet before the rebels could reach him, and then eventually escaped himself.

When he finally made it back to Desslok's side, it was to find his friend serving the Empire. While he did not approve, he remained loyal, and followed and aided Desslok through the next several years. Without Tranith, Desslok might not have survived the fall of the Empire, the rise and fall of the Desslok Imperium, or working for Thrawn. Now that Desslok is back where he belongs, following the light path of the Force, Tranith is able to focus his attention on the next pressing matter: training the next generation. While Dayana has Dawn aiding her, and Rene Jones as a friend, to Tranith's way of thinking her position, both as Desslok's firstborn and as ruler of the Thatramorian people, demands that she have a dai'kesan. He is the only one left, and does not wish to see the tradition die.

Tranith himself is difficult to get to know. He has sublimated his own personality and needs to serve the Telaris family. Still, beneath the professionalism is a person, with quirks, preferences, and a sense of humor. He is extremely intelligent and capable, and not afraid to tell anyone, including Desslok, when they are acting the fool. He has never forgotten anything he has heard in his life. He also has a secret passion for soap operas, and can tell you almost anything you don't want to know about most of the major characters on the longer running shows. Once the Kryd threat is eliminated, perhaps he will finally make time for a family, and some of his own needs.

Keldon Stilworks
Height: 1.9 meters
Status: First Admiral
Classification: Thatramorian
Affiliation: Kiassa Dayana Telaris, and the Thatramorian people
Weapon of Choice: Naval fleet, raw intelligence
History: Keldon is a former slave, rescued when Dayana and Ren stumbled upon a Kryd slave planet, and discovered that there were Thatramorians still alive, and enslaved. While his formal education was erratic - he was a slave - Keldon is a natural military genius, and an instinctive and brilliant strategist. He quickly rose to the position of First Admiral of the Avensoran Navy. (The current home planet for the Thatramorian race.) Like almost all Thatramorians, he is incredibly respectful of and loyal to Dayana. Unlike many, he is also able to see her as a person rather than his ruler and "savior." While he is always respectful, he is not above occasionally teasing. In return, she unwinds more around Keldon than she often will around most of her staff and council.

Keldon has an odd nasal problem that lends his voice a nasal quality, and causes a peculiar snort. It is correctable, but there simply hasn't been the time, and he's not willing to excuse himself from his work to deal with it at this point. Sooner or later Dayana will probably encourage him to have it fixed, simply for diplomatic reasons, but until then he'll ignore it. Keldon's hair is black, he has blue skin, and glowing red eyes - he fits right in with the majority of the Thatramorian population.

Someone who knows Keldon well might think that his attentiveness to Dayana is more than simple respect; how much more remains to be seen. She has not yet shown any awareness of his interest, and he has not acted on it.

Dawn
Height: 1.58 meters
Status: Gutter Rat, and Dayana's assistant/self-appointed bodyguard
Classification: ?! - Human, more or less
Affiliation: Herself, friends, food
Weapon of Choice: Daggers
History: Where Dawn comes from is a mystery, and on most days she doesn't really care. At one point she got curious about the unique abilities she possesses and has been the mind-twisting project of a top geneticist every since.

Dawn isn't sure exactly what she is, but so far she's tracked down traces of Residian, Defel, Coyn, and a smattering of various humanoid races - in short, she shouldn't exist. The practical effects that she's aware of so far include vision that extends into the infrared and ultraviolet - Dawn wears sunglasses most of the time, and is sensitive to bright light. She's extremely strong and fast, and excellent at sneaking around.

Despite all of the genetic advantages Dawn has, there are some weaknesses. She has no memories before the streets of Residia, where life began when she was (at her best guess) about five years old. All attempts to probe before that first day have ended in frustration. She spent the next eight years running with a child gang, staying away from the authorities, before breaking off on her own. The next several months were spent quietly making friends and safe havens. Having spent her entire life avoiding well-meaning government schools and the foster system, Dawn was illiterate, and lacking any technical skills.

Life changed the day she snuck into the Atrium to avoid a persistent truancy officer. Relaxing in a tree, casually carving a piece of said tree, Dawn spotted assassins attacking a person she'd seen a few times on the holovids. Not liking eight-to-one odds, Dawn jumped into the fray, plunging her knives into two backs as the attackee suddenly flourished a lightsaber. It quickly became obvious that the odds were never even close to even . . . for the attackers, as Dawn and the other figure sliced their way through the eight assassins in less than thirty seconds.

"Nice work with the blades," she was told. "I like the glowstick . . . Princess," came the reply, and from this violent and irreverent beginning came an improbable friendship that would be the bane of many an adversary and befuddle more than one of Dayana's associates and subjects.

The first priority in Dawn's life will always be the survival of herself and her friends. The second is food, and the third is trying to keep Dayana planted firmly in the "real world." She is far more pragmatic and cynical than her friend. Dawn treats the universe with an offhand irreverence so entrenched that even terror cannot dislodge it. A serious effort is required on her part to attain a respectful attitude, and maintaining one is doomed to failure . . . she usually doesn't even try.
