THE MAKING OF A MONSTER

IT'S YELLOW!!
On October first I dropped my TORCH RED car off at the painters and ten weeks later I got
back my car painted
1993-96 C4 COMPETITION YELLOW!!! Paint code #53U!! It was a
complete body off paint job. I have wanted a
Yellow Corvette since I was a ten year old boy
but the color wasn't offered in 1998. I like the shade of
Competition Yellow best of all.

HERE IT IS ALL FINISHED!!
They did a
GREAT job, I recommend Body Craft Collision Center highly if you're interested in a
serious paint job. I ended up paying $5500 but I feel that I got my money's worth and then some.
The car looks factory, you couldn't find any
TORCH RED left even if you went at it with hand tools. Just the
right amount of orange peel to make it look great but resist swirl and scratch marks and the shade, oh the
shade!! Competition Yellow is very stunning, makes people's jaws drop including mine. I would say the
gawk factor increased 400% over the
TORCH RED, more people talk to me at fuel stops then ever before. My
camera (Kodak DC290) doesn't seem to do so well with yellow but you get the idea. You really need to
see it in person to appreciate it. I also had them install the newer style passenger side door pull without the key
lock. I believe that this is the only Competition Yellow C5 in the world, at least I've never heard of any.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

I created a very large H-Pipe to replace my cat assembly. I thought it would be much louder
but the sound actually got better, deeper and more mellow. I am pleased with the sound very much.
The power gain was noticeable instantly, especially in the upper RPM ranges where it really opens
up and gains revs more quickly. I would guess 10-12 more HP and maybe a slightly lesser torque gain.
These are just seat of the pants guesses though and maybe my ears are fooling me. Overall I am
pleased with the mod. Also, it is reversible in less than 15 minutes. As you can see in the third
photo the stock unit can easily be slid back in place just by loosening four bolts. I had to get
some O2 simulators to make the computer believe the cats are still in place and doing their job.
The simulators replace the stock sensors and mimic the signal of an operating converter.

See, It Used To Be Red.
