Little Bits of Wisdom Shared by Other Sponsors...
I've received some truly wonderful response from sponsors regarding my web page. In discussion, there have been some statements made by these sponsors that I feel would be of value to us all.
A great idea comes from Koen:
- Koen has a wonderful idea for keeping the letters from her sponsored children organized and accessible. She says:
"I purchased a presentation binder (the type that you can slip a picture into the
front) to show off all of the correspondance that we have received from our girls. We put each letter into a platic slip cover and place it into the 3 ring binder, including the envelope that it came in. It is a wonderful way to show our friends and relatives the letters and pictures and it keeps everything in chronological order. It has been a real joy to see our daughters show off the notebook to other people as if the girls were all related."
Regarding letter-writing, Paul says:
- "...it is not content that matters as much as contact."
I think this is a good reminder to us all that we don't have to write literary masterpieces when we write to our children. As long as we're being respectful to our children, and showing interest in them, it doesn't really matter what we say. Thanks, Paul, for reminding us that writing letters doesn't have to be a difficult task, just an act of love...
Val says:
- "when writing to your child--make sure you always find something to praise them for. Whether it be for a picture they drew, how much help they do at home, or congratulations for being promoted to the next grade, anything you can think of to promote self esteem. "
