When you request to sponsor a child, you can indicate your preferences with regard to the gender, age, and home country/region of your sponsored child. You will then be sent a packet of information that tells you more about CCF sponsorship and about the child that has been assigned to you. A photo will be included.
This is called pre-sponsorship. The child's photo and information will not be sent to any other potential sponsors until you have been given ample time to make your decision. At this point, you are welcome to request further information or any changes. Sponsorship begins when you notify CCF that you wish to sponsor the child by sending in your first monthly sponsorship of $24 US.
You can begin sponsorship immediately by choosing a child from the CCF web site. You'll receive your information packet within just a few days. (I have to say, though, that there's something special about the mystery and "destiny" involved when you let CCF's computer choose your sponsored child for you.)
