Hermelinda
Hermelinda was born in October 1997 and lives in Guatemala. Hermelinda is an only child. She and her mother live with her grandparents and 3 aunts. Her father abandoned the family while her mother was still pregnant.
After Alaso "graduated", for financial reasons I intended to sponsor only 2 children. But, that thought didn't last long. Before my visit to the CCF Home Office in Richmond, VA, I decided that I'd ask for another child to sponsor when I was there.
I wanted to sponsor a younger child this time, because I've really enjoyed watching Wellington and Asma grow up, and really like the idea of being a stable presence throughout a child's life. I also had decided to sponsor a child with a single parent, because I feel that sponsorship can be a determining factor in keeping a family together and a child out of an orphanage.
