Who am I?

Photo of Asma, Husna, & Me My name is Angie, and I'm a 'thirty-something' office worker from the USA. The photo you see here is of me with my girls, Husna (L) and Asma (R), on the last day of my visit with them in November 1998.

I first sponsored a child through CCF in 1985 with a group of teenagers. I was disappointed that the others faltered in their commitment after only one year, but was unable to continue the sponsorship on my own. In 1990, I began sponsoring Wellington. I was a college student, and used my earnings as a "student helper" to finance my sponsorship. Since that time, there have been a few changes in my "family". Please see the individual pages for further information about "my" kids.

The Light of My Life...

Asha in her 'golden princess dress' For years my main passion in life was child sponsorship. It opened my world in ways I could never have imagined. But, in August of 2000 when I decided to adopt, my life began to revolve around this one aim. I developed a list of goals and set upon achieving them, one by one. Unfortunately, this meant that I didn't have as much time to devote to my "life's passion", child sponsorship and CCF. But, really, who's going to argue with the powerful need to parent a child??

I officially began the adoption process in August of 2003 and received the referral for my daughter, Asha, in June of 2004. Sixteen months later we traveled home together and have been living in the "fast lane" ever since. Asha is a delightfully feisty, enthusiastic, charming child who is learning the joys of being in a family of her very own. The photo to the left will give you a little glimpse of her "personality plus".

Asha was born in and adopted from southern India. Due to some difficulties with adoption bureaucracy, I ended up living at the orphanage with Asha and her cribmates for 2.5 months. It was an incredibly stressful experience, but also an incredible gift. It was simultaneously the best and the worst time of my life. I loved much about living in India and would happily go back tomorrow. I was able to learn a few Tamil words (her first language), which we continue to use in our daily life. Most of our time is now spent with simple day-to-day living, but we also do whatever we can to keep in contact with Asha's beloved cribmates, as well as to simply maintain ties with the culture of her birth. One of my hopes is that, as she grows, I can recruit my little darling to become quite the little CCF supporter, and we can share this fulfilling passion.

My Other Little Darlings...

Photo of Lilly My elder kitty is a beauty given to me by my good friends. Her full name is Sugarlilly, but some folks call her Sugar, while others call her Lilly... Lilly is part bunny, part kitty. She's the softest cat I've ever met. She's shy, but a real sweetheart. She's incredibly patient with Asha, and definitely her "fav'rite". Photo of Josie & Alana Josie, pictured here with my surrogate niece Alana, is my cat-puppy. She is, without a doubt, the naughtiest cat I've ever met. With the brains and stubbornness of a cat and the curiosity and playfulness of a puppy, Josie is a force to be reckoned with... Josie is much less impressed with her new "little sister", but tolerates the addition to the family.
